Coco's 8-step gua sha routine

The exact routine Coco Vely teaches with the LumiDew ceramic gua sha. Follow along in order.

PREPSerum first. Apply your favorite serum so the tool glides smoothly and soothingly.
RULELight pressure, always. Glide, never scrape. Go slowly.

    Sweep outward with light, gentle pressure to open up the chest area.

    Glide downward with soft, gentle strokes to ease tension and keep the neckline smooth.

    Move slowly up and down in front of the ear, then behind it, to release built-up tension.

    With light pressure, massage in a zigzag, up-and-down motion to relax jaw and temple tension.

    Press gently at the inner corner under the brow, then move toward the center. Finish with soft presses at the outer corner.

    From the inner to the outer corner, use smooth, feather-light strokes for a de-puffed, brighter look.

    Press gently along the sides of the nose, the hollow of the cheek and in front of the ear for a more sculpted look.

    Glide upward with light pressure from the chin toward the ear to define your contour and release tension.

AFTERRinse and pat dry. Rinse under running water, pat dry, and store it in its box.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Dry skin. Without serum the tool drags and leaves redness.
  • Pressing hard. Coco uses light pressure for every step, and feather-light under the eyes.
  • Rushing. Slow strokes feel better and work better.
  • Skipping the neck. Steps 1 and 2 come first for a reason.

What to put on first

DryA hydrating serum, or a face oil like squalane or jojoba
OilyA light gel serum
SensitiveA fragrance-free serum with a short ingredient list
Breakout-proneA non-comedogenic serum. Work around active spots.

Skip it on broken, irritated or sunburned skin, and don't use it in the same session as retinol or exfoliating acids.
